Lierne F. Gomez is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified Healthcare Safety Professional with a rare combination of degrees, including a Law degree from the University of Havana, a Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Arizona.

His work sits at the intersection of behavioral science, occupational safety, organizational systems, and law. With more than two decades of professional experience, Lierne brings a framework to workplace safety that no single discipline could produce alone. He founded Learning from Heroes on one core belief — that frontline workers are not the problem. They are the heroes navigating complex systems every day, and we have everything to learn from them.

Philosophy

I founded Learning from Heroes on a simple but powerful premise. The workers on the front line are not the problem. They are navigating complex systems every day with imperfect information, time pressure, and tools that were often designed without them in mind. When organizations respond to failure by blaming individuals, they close the investigation before it starts. The system stays the same, and the next worker faces the same risk.

As Todd Conklin puts it, workers do not come to work to have a bad day. That idea drives everything we teach at Learning from Heroes.

My work brings together behavioral science, occupational safety, organizational systems, and law into a single integrated framework. It is a combination no single discipline could produce alone, and it is the foundation of everything we build here.
